HOW DOES OUR NoRoma AGENT WORK?

Mother Nature eliminates odors by slowly but surely combining the materials that create odors with oxygen from the air. This process is called "oxidation". Our patented active ingredient, NoRoma, eliminates odors in exactly the same manner except that it does it at a greatly increased rate of speed - within minutes or even seconds!

NoRoma is an "oxidation catalyst". It causes the very rapid chemical combination of odor causing molecules with the oxygen molecules present in the air. This rapid process is called "catalytic oxidation".

The NoRoma catalyst molecules do not, themselves, combine with the common odor causing molecules or the oxygen, but they must come into contact with the odor molecules to "trigger" the chemical reaction. Thorough mixing of NoRoma products with the odor source is essential. Once the reaction is complete, the NoRoma catalyst is freed-up to repeat the reaction on other odor-causing molecules. This explains why such a small amount of product can be effective in large volumes of smelly fluids.

NoRoma is effective on most organic and inorganic malodorous materials such as those found in urine, feces (stool), food wastes, emesis (vomit), sewage and floodwaters. Most smelly materials generally contain the same types of odor-causing molecules - skatoles (foul smelling mitrogen compounds found in the intestines and stool); indoles (nitrogen compounds found in decomposition of proteins - odors associated with meat, flesh and stool); mercaptans (organic compounds with strong and repulsive sulfur odors, e.g. odor of skunk is butyl mercaptan, odor of "natural gas" is ethyl mercaptan); dimethyldisulfide (sulfur compounds in gaseous material found in rotting garbage); amines (compounds that emit an ammonia odor); ammonia - which are easily neutralized by the NoRoma catalyst.
